- The monastery of the 99 Holy Fathers. It features a small museum with religious relics, historical and folklore items and what is claimed to be the holy Evergreen Plane Tree of the 99 Holy fathers. This plane tree keeps its foliage throughout the year. Legend has it that it is the spot where the 99 Holy Fathers took a rest on their way to Charakas cave (99 Holy Fathers’ cave).
- The old Venetian-style rock bridge standing above the river of the village.
- The well-known caves of Papa Karalis, Charakas cave (also known as 99 Holy Fathers’ cave), and the carved cave of ancient Azogires. Papa Karalis’ cave was used as a so-called “secret school” and hideaway during Turkish domination in Greece. The Holy Fathers’ Cave was inhabited some 700 years ago by monks and was used as a monastery.
- The Folklore Museum of Azogires with impressive exhibits, such as historical heirlooms, traditional costumes, rare writings and weapons of the time.
- There are 7 orthodox churches and chapels in Azogires with stunning ancient icons and impressive interiors. Don’t miss visiting the Holy Fathers’ Church next to the monastery of the 99 Holy Fathers and Saint Theodoros Church five minutes up from the central square of the village.
